International Mass – World Mission Sunday 2026

Sun 18th Oct 2026

11:00am - 12:15pm

Interior of a large circular modern church with a high ribbed dome, rows of wooden pews flanking a long central aisle leading to a raised altar beneath a suspended spiky metal chandelier, blue-tinted light from tall stained-glass windows and colourful religious murals on the walls.

On Sunday 18 October, the Cathedral will celebrate its first International Mass at the 11am Solemn Mass, marking World Mission Sunday.

This year marks the centenary of World Mission Sunday, with the theme “One in Christ, united in mission.” The celebration reminds us of Christ’s call to bring the message of his mercy and hope to all nations.

The Mass will be an opportunity to reflect on the needs of the Church around the world and to celebrate the many nationalities and cultures that make up our Catholic community. People of all nationalities are warmly invited to come together in faith for this special celebration, which will become an annual event at the Cathedral.

Archbishop John Sherrington will be the principal celebrant.

All are welcome.
