We are more than halfway through the Year of Mercy which will conclude on Sunday 20 November 2016 with a special Mass at 3.00pm.
So far, we have received over 5,000 pilgrims from Pastoral areas across the Archdiocese and it has been wonderful to see so many people pass through the holy doors.
Our experience has been that the vast majority of people who have taken part in these days have thoroughly enjoyed them and found that they have been an uplifting spiritual experience.
We have received a vast number of letters of thanks from individuals and groups. An excerpt from one such letter is written below:
“I was able to make the ‘Pilgrimage of Mercy’ on Saturday 9th April. I cannot remember being touched by any service I have ever attended, as I was by this one. The atmosphere was full of love. The reflections were beautiful and the Mass was so moving. Much preparation and hard work had obviously gone into it. Thank you and all who assisted in helping to make the day a truly memorable time for everyone who attended.”
We have had a break over the summer from welcoming pilgrims from pastoral areas but on Saturday 1 October we welcome pilgrims from Lancashire, Pastoral Areas 10 and 11 (Southport and Leyland).
The pilgrimage is available to all. If you have not yet had the opportunity to make your own pilgrimage, please email enquiries@metcathedral.org.uk or call 0151 709 9222 for more details.
