The trip will allow our choir to represent our city internationally and connect with their peers.
This tour celebrates the long-standing relationship between Liverpool and Cologne, cities twinned since 1952, united through culture, faith, and music.
The Metropolitan Cathedral Choir will perform in Cologne Cathedral, where they’ll join forces with both Cologne and Liverpool Cathedral choirs.
Together, the three choirs will sing during the All Saints Day Mass on 1 November, a significant service that embodies our shared spirit and faith.
“This trip is not only about incredible performances but also about building relationships through music,” said Dr Christopher McElroy, Director of Music.
“To sing alongside the Cologne and Liverpool Cathedral choirs in such historic spaces is a unique opportunity for our choir. It’s an experience that deepens our shared faith and highlights the long-standing bond between our two cities.”
The significance of this cultural exchange will begin with the upcoming visit from Cologne Cathedral choir to Liverpool on 12-13 October.
This visit, along with our tour to Cologne, continues a tradition of collaboration that celebrates not only music but also the enduring connections between our communities.
Monsignor Anthony O’Brien, Cathedral Dean, said: “Coming together through music and faith reinforces our community and honours our shared values.”
Stay tuned for exclusive updates, photos, and videos as we follow our choir on their exciting journey.
We’ll be sharing highlights from their performances, stories from their travels, and plenty of pictures of the vibrant culture in Cologne.
