Cologne and Liverpool were the first German and English cities to initiate a twinning partnership in 1952 and for over sixty years our people, universities, commerce, community organisations and churches have shared a close bond.
Joined by a desire to celebrate peace, unity and personal development the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies, the Liverpool-Cologne Link Group and the Josephine Butler Memorial Trust are marking the 100th Anniversary of the end of the First World War on the weekend of 24th – 25th November.
On 24th November a special day of talks, workshops and performance will take place at Liverpool Hope University Creative Campus, Shaw Street, Liverpool, L6 1HP. More details about this free event can be found by clicking here.
On 25th November a major ecumenical service will take place here at the Cathedral at 3pm attended by Church leaders from Liverpool and Cologne and the choirs of both Cathedrals.
All are warmly welcome to attend all events.
