As part of the national pilgrimage marking the Centenary Year of the Pontevedra Apparition and the Jubilee of Hope, the Metropolitan Cathedral will welcome the Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, together with the Relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto.
This special visitation recalls the apparition received by Sr Lucia, the oldest of the Fatima seers, in December 1925 at Pontevedra. During this encounter, Our Lady and the Child Jesus spoke of the call to reparation through the Five First Saturdays devotion, closely connected to the promise of peace and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The Five First Saturdays devotion, promoted by the World Apostolate of Fatima, invites us to pray for the conversion of hearts and for peace in the world. This pilgrimage also forms part of the Church’s wider Jubilee celebrations, calling us all to be “Pilgrims of Hope.”
