Our atmospheric first service of the Christmas season begins with an extended procession accompanied by the singing of the 15th-century song of the Nuns of Chester Qui creavit cælum. The solo treble intones ‘Once in royal David’s city’ before the singing of the psalmody.
The service concludes at the crib with the communal singing of ‘Away in a manger’.
