The next walk will begin at the Refreshment Rooms, 2 Bedford Rd E, Birkenhead CH42 1LS (nearest train station is Rock Ferry, a 15 minute walk away).
We will then follow the path by the River Mersey through the Rock Park Estate of villas from the 1800s. From there, we will visit River Park and pause to enjoy the views to Liverpool and surroundings from the top. We’ll continue to Port Sunlight where we’ll stop for refreshments before taking in Port Sunlight village – sharing knowledge of its history and pointing out places of interest. We’ll return to River Park and find a spot to picnic. Following this, we’ll descend and walk the promenade back to the Refreshment Rooms once again.
All in all, we estimate it’s about 7 miles gentle terrain and climbs on mixed footpaths, taking approximately 3-4 hours depending on pace and weather.
Walkers are encouraged to bring along a picnic lunch, though coffee / drinks can also be purchased at Port Sunlight.
