Liverpool Biennial is the UK biennial of contemporary art. The 10th edition, titled Beautiful world, where are you? invites artists and audiences to reflect on a world of social, political and economic turmoil with free exhibitions and events across the city.
As part of this year’s festival, artist Ryan Gander dissected a model of the Metropolitan Cathedral into a series of simple ‘building blocks’. The blocks were then reassembled into different configurations by schoolchildren from Liverpool. The maquettes that Gander and the children created have been reproduced on a larger scale to produce a new public seating arrangement, which is located on the Cathedral Plateau.
At this exclusive free event, Ryan Gander will be in conversation with Dominic Wilkinson (Senior Lecturer in Architecture, Liverpool John Moores University), where they will discuss the project in detail and answer questions from the audience.
