Coronation Weekend
The final celebrations for the Coronation will take place over the rest of the Bank Holiday. The Bishops Conference have had prayer cards printed to commemorate the Coronation, they are available to pick up at the back of the Cathedral and Crypt Chapel. Please take one if you wish.
We then move on after the holiday to the week of celebrations leading up to the Eurovision Song Contest Final next Saturday. There are prayer vigils and a prayer trail arranged during this week to use the opportunity of Eurovision to have some quiet time each day in one of the city centre churches to have a time of prayer for peace.
On Wednesday evening there is a joint ‘Songs of Praise’ service here at our Cathedral to join in song and prayer for peace. This will involve the two Cathedral Choirs, the Salvation Army Band a Ukrainian Choir and communal Hymns.
Next Saturday at 10.30am there is a meeting in the Gibberd Room for all our Eucharistic Ministers. With the advent of the reintroduction of Communion under both kinds at our weekend Masses we need to have a short time to refresh and discuss the way forward.
We celebrate the Anniversary of the Dedication of our Cathedral next weekend. The Chapter of Canons will join us for the afternoon Choral Evening Prayer at 3pm on Sunday to join us in prayer on the anniversary.
I apologise that we were caught unawares regarding the partial road closure this week at the Brownlow Hill end of Mount Pleasant. We were given no notice regarding this and at first we thought it was in connection with some work taking place at the University. We subsequently found out this week it is in relation to Eurovision and diversion of bus traffic by Merseytravel. The closure will last until 15th May.

come at last into your presence,
through Christ who is the way,
the truth and the life
and who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
