The Liverpool Welsh Choral Union (as it was then known) took part in the opening concert of the Cathedral in 1967. In recognition of this, we are delighted that they have accepted the Cathedral’s invitation to participate in the anniversary celebrations.
Directed by conductor Keith Orrell, the choir’s programme includes Lux Aeterna and Sure on this Shining Night by American composer Morten Lauridsen, Sleep by fellow American Eric Whitacre, Gorecki’s Totus Tuus and The Five Spirituals from Michael Tippett’s A Child of our Time, together with organ solos performed by Stephen Hargreaves.
